Lots of Printing !
I have ‘helped’ with three print workshops over the past two weeks which have been great fun, but before I get to those here’s what else I’ve been up to !
Janet brought a selection of rugging tools she’d been given – I love looking at old tools, handling them and wondering how many rugs they have been used for over how many years ….

….. I think the one on the left is just a tin opener but it had been used as a prodder !
Beckie and I spent a lovely day last week melting pure beeswax and making wax blocks to use in my Goldwork classes …

…. don’t they look pretty ! They smell lovely too !
Cath brought her completed applique and embroidery piece she worked at my ‘Angie Lewin Inspired’ workshop recently …

… beautiful isn’t it ?!
We had a fab Goldwork day at The Fabbadashery last week. Some people were complete beginners, some more experienced, but everyone produced some wonderful work. As I have mentioned previously, with courses such as this you are not going to be going home with a completed piece of work, but I make sure people go away with the knowledge and skills to be able to continue working at home.
Here are some pictures from the day …

I can’t wait to see them finished, ooh, guess what ? Nicola has already finished hers !!

I haven’t put any photos of the New Library Textile Project on here for a while, so here are a few to show you what we’ve been working on recently.

So ….. onto the printing …… Kev and I spent two brilliant sessions with the 5th Rastrick Guides. At the first session he showed them how to transfer a design onto lino and then carve the design into the block using lino cutters. During the second session he showed them how to use the block to create printed pieces which they used make cards.
We were amazed at the results – they are a talented bunch of girls !

So, before our final printing session of the week I decided to steal some of Kev’s samples of printing on fabric and combine them ‘Crazy Patchwork Style’ .
The workshop we were running was entitled ‘Lino Print and Stitch’, so I thought this would be a good way to demonstrate how to combine the two techniques …

I have since added some hand embroidery to this but don’t have a picture yet. Kev has since pinched my sewing machine and is making his own Crazy Patchwork Print Panels !!
The session at the shop was equally successful, we had a full house of busy girls making the most of the workshop, the access to the materials, and access to our talented tutor for the day. Here’s what they did ….

…. Bit of a mega-blog, this one, but it has been a busy couple of weeks ( for a change !!).
