Sheep
Sheep seem to have featured a lot in my life over the past few weeks ! I have been busy preparing for the Masham Sheep Fair Wool Event where everything you were selling had to be wool or sheep related. I took tweed rag rugs, applique lambswool cushions, felted wool brooches, cashmere cushions and rag rug kits. Kev had made some stunning sheep (and other animal ) lino prints, plus some Masham Sheep Fair printed tote bags and lots of cards.

Our stand was directly in front of the balcony window on the first floor of the town hall, I felt like I ought to fling the doors open and go out and make a speech, but I resisted the urge ! We did, however have an excellent view of the proceedings down below, including sheep shearing, sheep dancing (!) and the fabulous 500 Roses Tribal Bellydance.

….. if only there were more hours in the day, I’d love to have a go at this !
Obviously, being a sheep fair, there were LOTS of sheep …..

….. their owners were brushing them and polishing their faces to get them looking their very best.

….. lovely weekend !
Later that week I spent a day with the lovely Airedale Branch of the Embroiderer’s Guild. They wanted to have a day learning and/or perfecting Goldwork. My friend Sue came along to help and we had a fab day with a great bunch of ladies.

Here are some of their pieces of work in progress, they have promised to send me pictures of the completed work.

So, over at The Fabbadashery there were yet more sheep emerging from the fabric in a stumpwork day …..

And back at home there were stumpwork insects too ! ……

This particular group of girls have really taken to Stumpwork and are producing some fabulous work.

Diana managed to complete two rag rugging projects in the day ….

……. so, Christmas has begun !
Janet and I had a busy day with a group of teachers who wanted to learn rag rugging ..

These are just a few of the lovely pieces of work which were started, can’t wait to see the finished results !
And last, but by no means least, Maxine and co came for a day of Christmas decoration creation. Jackie made several trees which will be hung from a garland ….

….. and what was that ? Another sheep ?!!!
Maxine used the Christmas bell template to make a very special gift for a wedding she was attending that evening ….

…. beautiful tiny chain stitch in silver !
Lily managed to make some doggy decorations in the morning, and then learn silk painting in the afternoon. She made a London landscape picture for her new bedroom, and several cards ….

I did manage a day out this week too – the New Library Textile Group decided to visit the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester. It was very inspiring. Managed to get to the Northern Quarter too and visit Fred Aldous, fab shop !
